It may not have been a race, but there were plenty of winners.
At Ride Santa Barbara 100, the premier century bike ride on California’s Central Coast, some 200 cyclists of various skill levels enjoyed 100 miles of spectacular scenery, warm sunshine, and even Yamaha e-Bikes that were perfect for powering though the four unique routes.
The 11th annual event, held this year on October 22, snaked through the Santa Barbara waterfront, foothills of Carpinteria and Montecito, famous 7-mile climb up Gibraltar Road, and the flatlands of Goleta before finishing at Leadbetter Beach.
And even when the final kickstand went down, the good vibes kept coming, as Yamaha presented a check of $5,000 to Santa Barbara’s Franklin Elementary; money that will fund an All Kids Bike program at the school. The mission of All Kids Bike is to supply schools with everything they need to get their students riding bicycles. The program now serves more than 100,000 students per year in all 50 states. In 2021, Yamaha kicked off the first All Kids Bike program in Santa Barbara with a similar donation to Harding University Partnership School.
