Why The Wonderful RAGBRAI Is A Must-Do

Share via:

It started humbly enough, with just a few friends organizing a casual bike ride across Iowa back in 1973. Today, RAGBRAI (Register’s Annual Great Bicycle Ride Across Iowa) is the longest, largest, and oldest recreational bicycle touring event in the world. In fact, it might help to consider this non-competitive event more of a rolling festival, complete with music, food, camaraderie, and community, as it treks west to east across the Hawkeye State over eight days. A guaranteed good time.

This year RAGBRAI is 462 miles long with 12,945 feet of climb. Route highlights include a shrine that claims to be the world’s largest grotto, the National Hobo Museum, and a pit stop in the hometown of the man who set the world record for the longest bout of hiccups. Memories will be made.

Also on tap is a gravel option for riders looking to test their stamina over 48 miles with 815 feet of climb. With a variety of surfaces to conquer, it’s exactly the kind of journey the all-new Wabash RT and Yamaha’s other all-road bikes were built for.

Want to try RAGBRAI? The Iowa Bicycle Coalition has tips on how to conquer the epic course, and organizers have created a training plan you can download.

This years race is July 23-30, 2022. Register today and enjoy the ride!
